My Spica Vessel

On October 31st, just before dawn, I prepared a small green bag with various Herbal materia, a small crystal, and parchment marked with the image of Lovely Spica. I went out to face the rising Sun, and setting Moon, glimpsing the Emerald Bird at her rising. It was under her light that I made my invocations, drawing her down into the body of cloth and herb. Calling her, to make her home within this small vessel. And as the Maiden of Wheat strode down from the Heavens, ensouling herself within, I knew I had made a major step in my occult practice.

Spica is one of the 15 Behenian stars as described by Agrippa. She is the brightest star in Virgo (Alpha Virginis), and is classically ruled by Venus and Mercury. Her incense is mugwort, with wormwood, mandrake, periwinkle and trefoil being some of the primary herbs of her. Emerald is her stone, as she often referred to as an emerald bird. Her image is that of the bird, or the merchant. She brings harmony and friendships, and increases wealth and funds especially for merchants.

The Interior Of The Vessel, With The Spica Bag

These are the classical associations, though I personally have found some differences in my experience. For me, she is primarily ruled by Sol and Mercury, with a weaker Venusian influence. I used Serpentine instead of Emerald as her stone, and I heavily feature wheat in her work. My Sister in the Craft, Morgana, also crafted her own vessel, using a bottle instead of a cloth bag. She came to similar conclusions planetarily, and we each scried each other's vessels.

This came really easy to me, thats a sign that its successful or holds the power of what its supposed to hold. I see a golden goose, the heart of it is a golden egg. Something about capturing a lucky animal who transforms into a human woman. She gives gifts in exchange for kindness. She is fair skinned and dressed in white drapery, very ethereal looking but her skin is kind of blue tinted or sheened. This vessel needs "air" somehow. I don't know why, but elevation comes to mind. Elevation and wind and cold air. I also get the impression of "security" or secureness. Maybe find a way to tighten the lid or keep it more closed physically?

This lined up a lot with my perception of Spica, and tracked with my understandings of her. I sealed up the vessel a bit more, though still need to find a good space to elevate it in. I won't share my scrying session on her vessel, but suffice to say there was a lot of overlap, and confirmations made.

The Vessel, Once More And Again

I've had good experiences so far working the vessel, with daily prayers, incense offerings and petitions. I often add a few drops of Money-Drawing oil to the bag, which has helped me get clients and high tips at my job. I've also done a working with a friend to help bring funds, better organization and awareness to various groups we support. I've found that if I don't have the means to donate, then doing spellwork to bring money and an increase of funds to an organization is a good alternative. I've seen it work in real-time before, and it's truly astounding.

Another thing I've done is place a 3rd Pentacle of the Sun made of wax into the vessel. I've found holding it and showing it to Spica while petitioning has been greatly effective and aided in further empowering my prayers and petitions. I don't have any pictures saved, and don't particularly believe in taking pictures of Pentacles like that after consecration, sorry! But I plan on experimenting more with wax Pentacles in the future!

"Hypersigil" of Spica, an Automatic Drawing of the Essence of the Star

Lastly, I'd like to conclude with some experiments and thoughts going forward. I've been enjoying my work with Spica greatly, and been learning a lot from her. I've been experimenting with different types of workings, from scrying, automatic drawing and deeper meditations with her, to learn more of her nature. She is a deeply communal spirit, with a rich ecology of spirits behind her. She is a spirit of wealth in all aspects, of deepening meaningful friendships, forging community, and bringing joy to all who pray with her. She is a spirit that helps you rediscover happiness when it feels all but stolen from you. She makes her presence known when called, but doesn't take up more space than necessary.

The next well-aspected Spica election won't be until April 13th roughly, so I'm glad I was able to make my vessel now. I will reconsecrate, re-empower and craft many tools for her then. I have plans to make some candles for her, resting within the vessel for some time before use. I will likely create some materia for use in her rites in the future, but for now here's a glimpse at my experiences with her!
