Weather Workings With Lehahiah

I was inspired while listening to Episode 56 of The Frightful Howls You May Hear podcast ("Seasons and Cycles in Sorcery") to write this blog post. In particular, on how a wonderful spirit, who's power of affecting the weather can be wielded to your benefit.

Lehahiah is one of the angels of the Shem HaMephoash, which originates from a particular passage of the book of Exodus. These are angels linked to the 72 Names of God, each ruling over various functions of the universe. Each of these angels additionally has a psalmic verse associated with them. Lehahiah's is:

"O Israel Hope In The Lord, From This Time On And Forever More" (Psalm 131:3).

These angels are also said to constrain the Göetic demons.

What follows are some descriptions of this spirit:

34: LEHAHIAH. His attribute is “Clement God”. This angel rules over crowned heads, princes and nobles; he maintains harmony, understanding and peace between them; he influences the obeisance of subjects towards their princes. The person born under this influence will become famous through his talents and his actions; he will have the confidence and favor of his prince, which he will merit because of his devotion, fidelity and the great service, which he will render him. - Practical Kabbalah, Ambelain

Lehahiah – is the name of the thirty-fourth genius of the Mercurian sphere. The magician will receive power formulas from this genius that allow him to calm storm spirits, whereby he gets these spirits under his control. He will also become the master over lightning, thunder, and storms on land and water. Should the magician undertake a voyage while under the protection of this genius, the ship will pass through the greatest storms and arrive safely in the harbor. The magician will achieve great deeds while under the guidance of this genius. Upon the magician’s special request, Lehahiah will initiate him into the most profound divine mysteries and will also entrust the magician with many secrets in magic and Kabbalah, so that tremendous possibilities will unfold for him. According to The Göetia of Dr. Rudd this angel constrains the demon Furfur, who is a master of storms.

34: FURFUR.--The Thirty-fourth Spirit is Furfur. He is a Great and Mighty Earl, appearing in the Form of an Hart with a Fiery Tail. He never speaketh truth unless he be compelled, or brought up within a triangle, △. Being therein, he will take upon himself the Form of an Angel. Being bidden, he speaketh with a hoarse voice. Also he will wittingly urge Love between Man and Woman. He can raise Lightnings and Thunders, Blasts, and Great Tempestuous Storms. And he giveth True Answers both of Things Secret and Divine, if commanded. He ruleth over 26 Legions of Spirits. And his Seal is this, etc - Ars Göetia, Mathers

With this knowledge, I crafted a very simple formula for (originally) thwarting rain and storms.

As the storm rages on, simply walk outside and proclaim the Psalm to the heavens, repeating as necessary. From the heart, speak into the words the desire to bind up the storm demons, led by Furfur, and to cease the storm.

Additional variations can be made to this formula, and indeed I have given this very simple operation to others who have added onto it. Though, it seems I'm the only one who wants to stop rain! Most others seek to encourage it. I have seen others perform operations on Monday during the Moon hour with this angel, as well as the Archangel Gabriel to bring not just rain, but snowstorms.

I am of the opinion that the Planetary Day and Hour do not affect this work, as the Shem Angels operate on a different level of reality, but adding in the Day and Hour won't hurt.

More specific conjurations of this angel may be done, through methods such as Drawing Spirits Into A Crystal, to halt storms or induce them. Set a map of the area you wish to affect under the crystal ball and conjure the angel into it. Speak to her of what you need done, and check in on the weather!

This angel can empower any weather magic tools, whether that's Pentacles, storm cutting blades, storm calling bowls or any other device. Draw her sigil onto them, recite her psalm, and fumigate the tool. Frankincense will suffice, though further incense can be divined on.

Again though, simply reciting her psalm is effective enough.

The Angels of the Shem HaMephorash are calling to me once again, so I intend on exploring several of them further in my own practice, as well as sharing experiences here on the blog. I find that simplicity is where they truly shine, and they operate quite differently than other "classical" angels. Lehahiah is quite the kindly angel, and she works very quickly, and effectively. She is a wonderful guide as well to performing weather magic.

I now have other methods and other spirits who I engage in this art with, but I deeply appreciate her wisdom and her power against the various storms I have encountered.
