The dead flow in all aspects of our world, deeply woven into the fabric of reality. More than any other force, Death and The Dead are felt in the walk of life. It is the force we are most intimately familiar with. As such, it’s the most accessible point to tap into. These charms were born, initially, out of a divination with my friend Mallus, at Something Something Sorcery, but have grown beyond the original reading.
The Fertility of Death charms are instantiated in the flow of the Dead and the force of Death. Incorporating some of my most private witchcraft, a dance between Life and Death was born. A family of dead, who are deeply impactful to my own land, were propitiated, with dirts collected, and offerings made throughout the process of creation. These dirts were then mixed with soil of a fertile field, and a variety of herbs such as Star Anise, White Willow Bark, Bay Leaf, Mugwort and many more necromantic, divinatory, as well as physicality-empowering herbs. The Dead, and those who walk with them, were stirred and fed upon fire, as they were incorporated with the herbal mixture. Finally, the resulting powder was mixed with terracotta clay into a small ball, creating the cores of these charms. Each was then wrapped in red cloth, and handed over to Death Herself.
The final round of empowerment, and the true enlivening of the charms was done under Santa Muerte, my patron of Death. Every aspect of this work was ultimately done under her, as is, in all honesty, all my work, whether she is directly invoked or not. Prayers were given to her in English, Spanish and Nahuatl, honoring her, giving praise, and washing the charms in her all-pervading cloak. Within a bowl, a glass vigil candle burned in her shrine room, surrounded by the charms, set atop corn meal mixed with portions of the powder that was previously yielded. Throughout, her three traditional colors (white, red and black) were present, drawing all three of these forces into the charms.
Ultimately, the Fertility of Death charms are designed to bring about the aid of the specific dead within them (names which will be given once the charms are purchased, along with further instructions for workings), as well as the Force of Death Herself. A relationship with Santa Muerte, or any other face of Death is not required, however for those who are devoted to Death, the charms should be presented to that force first. The charms bring an ease of communication with the surrounding dead, as well as pull in allies from the currents that are flowing, and creating blessings of protection, health, wealth, connections (in our world, and the world of spirit), peace and all that the practitioner desires from the Dead. Additionally, they will push aside the ambient dead, and clear away any ill spirits when directed towards acts of protection.
Companion charms to these are available on Mallus' website, to help empower and enflame the spirits within mine. However, these charms may work on their own.
