Two Sorcerous Techniques For Holy Week

What follows are two, far less than savory, works that can be performed during Holy Week, specifically on Good Friday and Holy Saturday/Easter Vigil. As Witches, there is power found in heretical rites, and even blasphemies. Holy Week is infamous for the variety of malign sorceries created in Christian cultures. I will not be sharing all that is possible, nor will I even fully encourage the practices I do share.

Use these at your discretion.

Judas Iscariot - Intranquil Spirit

The story of Judas Iscariot (in canonical Christianity) is perhaps one of the most well known parts of Jesus' Passion and Death, other than the Crucifixion itself. Betrayal, at the hand of one so close to him, for 30 silver pieces. Judas is quite a fascinating figure within Christianity, and a complex one at that. For some, it is believed that he was used as a vessel for Satan, and was not inherently acting of his own accord. This is how I was raised. Upon being "freed" from the Devil's possessions, he realized what he had done and took his own life.

"The Intranquil Spirit" is a common motif throughout human history, and refers to any soul that cannot find rest upon death. Modernly, La Anima Sola has become the figurehead of this class of spirits. I am personally of the belief that approaching specifically Las Animas Solas is something that must be done under proper training, through specific traditions. However, the restless dead as a whole are very much common in necromantic practices.

And who is more restless than the one who betrayed the savior?

With all this said, a method of engaging with the spirit of Judas Iscariot during Holy Week presents itself: As an Intranquil spirit. This work may continue outside of Holy Week, but I highly recommend starting it on Holy Thursday (The Last Supper).

On this night, create an effigy or image of Judas. Make it small, plain, out of cheap materials. If making an effigy is not possible, print off an image of him and put it in a cheap picture frame or laminate it. For crafting an effigy, I recommend making it out of paper or black cloth, filling the effigy's body with grave gate dirt, dirt from an unknown grave, 30 "silver" coins, bark from a dogwood tree, and if you can a hangman's noose. These aren't necessary, but can add to the virtues, linking it closer to Judas. Baptize the image and name it as Judas Iscariot, the Betrayer of Christ. It may be helpful to read from the Gospels, and to remind the effigy of who he is.

You may take this effigy to Church on Good Friday, and present it covertly to the altar, to Christ slain. This is not fully necessary.

At 3PM on Good Friday, set the effigy on the floor, away from any Holy Altars or shrines, and speak to him not as a Saint, but as a desperate spirit, one who will answer your requests to gain even a small offering. Hold a cup of water in your hands, just out of reach of him, as you make requests. Remind him of his stain of sin, and remind him that he can only receive relief if he answers the request.

If he does not, spirit punishing methods can be employed.

I do not suggest making trivial requests this way, and truly I only suggest it for those who are in serious need. But, I will leave that up to you.

God Is Dead: The Devils All Reign

For as far back as I can remember, I fully believed in the power of The Devil on Earth during Holy Week. I'm not fully sure when I developed this understanding, but I understood that Satan and his cohorts would have full and total authority during these days; from 3PM Good Friday, til Dawn on Easter Sunday. As such, all works oriented around these spirits will become significantly empowered.

Holy Saturday is a perfect day to take advantage of this. Consorting with devils, demons, witches and other infernal creatures, not by compulsions and threats of God Names, but on their own terms, to gain tutelage, secret pacts and deepen the mysteries of Witchcraft. I do not make this recommendation to anyone inexperienced in consorting with spirits, nor do I suggest it for frivolous pacts. But, to those seeking out deeper witchcraft initiators, through infernal forces, that is the day to seek it out.

I will pose a hypothetical example of one such rite; to gain a pact with the local Witches. When I refer to Witches here, I do not refer to incarnate people who profess a practice, rather I speak of supernatural creatures who may in turn make us more like them.

I would recommend first diving well into the history of your area, and into folklore of Witchcraft native to you. At Midnight on Good Friday, set up a meal in a place where Witches are said to gather, and call to them. This can take the form of an oral cry, to more obscure means. Have methods of checking the validity of the spirits that arrive, and consort with those that do. Ask them to accept you into their coven, or to grant you some form of initiation into their artes. Ask to fly with them on the following night; Holy Saturday. If all goes well, leave the meal and return home.

The following night, prepare yourself for spirit flight, and make your call out to the coven. They should provide you with some technique to gain their attention and favor again. Go out in spirit with the Witches and revel alongside them.

Do not tell a soul what you did.

I hope that these methods provide you, reader, something to think on. Whether to apply directly, or to ponder and find other methods more amenable to you, I hope it gives you something to do this Holy Week.

As always, be well, take care of yourself and those you care about, and enact all sorcery beneficial to you.
